The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve spans the central sector of northern Saudi Arabia, from Mount Aja in Hail to the Jordanian border, covering a vast area of 130,700 square kilometers. Most of the land lies within the Arabian Shelf, accounting for over 96% of its area, while about 4% is part of the Arabian Shield, located in Mount Aja and its western surroundings. The land exhibits a great diversity in geology and topography, encompassing a variety of distinctive environments, including mountains, plateaus, plains, valleys, floodplains, salt flats, sand dunes, and rehabilitation sites in Buhan, Ma’arik, Mughayra, and Jubbah.
